IPL Auction 2023 Live Updates: The IPL mini auction has started in Kochi and there have been quite a few developments so far with 3 players breaking the IPL all-time bidding record. England all-rounder Sam Curran became the highest-ever IPL T20 Cricket buy when Punjab Kings broke the bank and brought him for Rs 18.50 crore.
Australian Cameron Green followed suit to Mumbai Indians after he was sold for Rs 17.5 crore and Chennai Super Kings pulled off the Ben Stokes deal for Rs 16.25 crore. Nicholas Pooran also commanded big bucks as Lucknow bought him for Rs 16 crore after a bidding war with Delhi Capitals.

Sam Curran is the most expensive player in the history of the TATA IPL
England’s Sam Curran has become the most expensive auction buy in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after being bought by Punjab Kings for £1.85m.
Six franchises made a bid for the 24-year-old all-rounder before Punjab was eventually successful.
Yorkshire’s Harry Brook has been sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for £1.35m.
The 23-year-old was the leading run-scorer for England in their recent 3-0 Test series win in Pakistan.
Curran was named player of the tournament at this year’s Twenty20 World Cup after helping England to become double white-ball world champions.
He took 13 wickets at an average of 11.38 in last month’s event in Australia and has improved his batting to become a genuine all-rounder.
The previous most expensive IPL player was South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris, who was signed by Rajasthan Royals for £1.6m in April 2021.

IPL Live Broadcasting
Star Sports – the official broadcaster of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – has revealed its commentary panel for the upcoming auction. Star Sports unveiled the complete line-up of panelists for five different feeds – English, Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, and Kannada.
The Hindi feed will feature experts like Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan and Amol Mazumdar, along with Jatin Sapru on the Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live – Auction Special’. Similarly, the English panel will feature West Indies great Ian Bishop, Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch, former IPL coaches Tom Moody, Simon Katich and David Hussey, along with anchor Mayanti Langer.
The Tamil feed will see former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) players Lakshmipathy Balaji, Subramaniam Badrinath and ex-Indian cricketer, Sadagoppan Ramesh. Likewise, the Telugu feed will have Venugopal Rao, MSK Prasad and Ashish Reddy. When it comes to the Kannada feed, it will feature Vijay Bharadwaj, Srinivas Murthy and Balachandra Akhil.
